  • Lesson 5: Responsibility

The Mountain of Responsibility calls us to live out the authority we have received through the presence of God. As we rediscover our identity, grow in humility, and experience intimacy with God, we are entrusted with the responsibility to reflect His character and carry the good news of Jesus Christ. This lesson emphasizes two primary areas of responsibility: developing Christlike character and fulfilling the Great Commission. Through the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, we are equipped to work and serve in God’s name, love others as Jesus loves, and make disciples who live for His glory. This responsibility is the natural outflow of walking in the authority of God’s presence.

    Objectives

This lesson aims to equip you to:

    1. Explain the connection between God’s presence and the responsibility to reflect His character in daily life, including virtues like love, gratitude, and service.
    2. See the Great Commission as the our central charge, recognizing how the authority of Christ empowers us to share the gospel and make disciples.
    3. Develop practical strategies for living out our responsibility as followers of Jesus, embracing both personal character development and intentional efforts to advance God’s kingdom in their communities.

    Reading

As you prepare to proceed through this lesson, we encourage you to read Chapter 5, “Responsibility,” in Paul Bergin’s, The Path of Presence: A Discipleship of Dwelling with Jesus (Slingshot, 2024).
